The product of a long lasting, beautiful collaboration between Leica and Minolta. 
While Leica was a master of 35mm in the form of rangefinders, they struggled with entering the SLR market. Minolta had the opposite problem; near dominance of the SLR market but struggling to branch into rangefinders. So the two power houses came together like a 1990's rom-com and created some of the greatest SLR's and rangefinders to make their way into the consumer market throughout the last 30 years of the 20th century.
